"You dare bring light to mah lair, YOU MUST DIE!"![]() PS Network Tag: tokyochojin |
First round of UK SFIV tournaments were held over the weekend: Gamerbase RB (20th February): 1st. Zak - Sagat 2nd. The Prince - Sagat 3rd. IMX - Zangief NeoEmpire Tournament (22nd February): 1st. Zak - Sagat 2nd. PrivateRyan - Zangief (blaaaaytant) 3rd. kaworu - M.Bison I entered a tournament here in Liverpool on the eve of the games release on the 19th. It was a join thing between gamestation and microsoft (xbox pads urghh..) and unsurprisingly the vast majority of players were Ryu (including myself). Still, the winner in the end was a Sagat player, who I also lost to in the semis, he's just too damned overpowered as always. It's like playing online at the moment, more players will start taking advantage of some of the 'newer' characters, once the game has been in circulation for a while. Characters like Abel, Sakura and Gen seem just as capable as the traditional staple of characters like Ryu, Sagat and Zief. |

Man, Sakura's a bit swish in this. Her Ultra is entirely ineffective and she's not even remotely a match up for Seth (continue continue continue continue ah fuck it pussyfoot sweep in the corner tactic), but there's so much elsewhere going in her favour. All of her EX moves are just her supers from Alpha! QCB + 2 kicks is great, when you can juggle your opponent for a further hit - so dirty, I actually felt bad for the computer the amount of times I was doing it.

i'll add you other ps3 players next time i'm on.
getting a bit better with the stick now, but dragon punch motions are still a bit hit and miss. been using viper a lot now. her seismic floor punch malarky is great for all these shotos hiding in the corner throwing fireballs. ![]() edit, and this too ![]() This post has been edited by Fuddle: Feb 23 2009, 10:28 PM |

BOSH!![]() ![]() PS Network Tag: Moodmon Xbox Live Tag: Moodmon |
Oh man. After ages playing people who aren't used to Street Fighter, I finally got to play against Singho and the Mighty 'sim (like the Mighty Boosh, but with more fire). I even won the first match with Abel!
..then things started going less well. I may be a little one note, but jesus that guy is a pain in the nuts. Can't get close to him at all, the Sean roll and Sean kick only take you so far. Needless to say, I got raped. Luckily mercy prevailed and we started using other characters. I'm beginning to think El Fuerte isn't actually that bad. His anti-air throw is absolutely immense, chews everything up. Once you get used to his silly runs he's quite fun. Range of the wall kick can catch people out too. I may have been seeing things, but I'm sure his EX run went straight through the first stage of Yoga Catastrophe. Which should be banned. Singho + Oro Special + Teleport = Bad Times I enjoying this absolutely tonnes. Online is generally lag free, especially against friends. I'm not completely and utterly shit, which helps. Have been going to the dark side recently with a bit of Akuma play, but it just makes me feel dirty and wrong. Oddly enough I'm tempted to try learning some Chun stuff. It's like 3S, without the LOLtierness of it all. Ken's still a dick though. Oh sure, beatable. But he's still a dick. I'd go with Hank on Sakura as well, she's decent in this. EX Shoryuken is mental, focus attack that bitches. Cammy, despite apparently being not so great, is also great fun to play. One day I will learn to stop jumping into her. Or blocking whilst someone fully charges a focus attack >_< It can be quite fun playing randoms. You know exactly what to expect. Sagat means you get raped. Shoto with Abel means ninja roll -> tornado throw that fireball shit (okay, it isn't as catchy as parry that shit, but it'll catch on). Random playing as anyone else generally means they know what they are doing and in my case I'm about to get Bison rape face'd. But after that collection of random thoughts, they is only one way to end this post. YYAAAHHHOOOOOO (done endlessly for 5 minutes) |

Man, Sakura's a bit swish in this. Her Ultra is entirely ineffective You can land it after an EX Hurricane Kick, it's probably her most practical set-up for it. After the EX Hurricane Kick connects, do the Ultra just as they start to fall and it will combo. Jump in HK > cr.LP > cr.HP xx LK Hurricane > LK xx EX Hurricane Kick > Ultra That's why I want to learn Sakura alongside Dhalsim. Too much damage! |

I had a bit of a session with hank last night on my lowly 360 controller and it was a great laugh. We generally just mucked about with a few different characters.
I'm quite taken with Sakura and Rose so far although I always had more fun with Guile than I did back when I tried him for a while on SF2. So far, I don't have a character of choice yet. I STILL don't have a stick though. Renchi let me down on my order. I'm waiting on email confirmation from somewhere else but I don't want to jinx it by saying anything! |

bloody trial mode pissing me off again. trying to do vipers hard kick into super. which you would think is easy. just quarter circle forward kick, quarter circle forward punch right?
well, yes, it works. but does the computer accept this method, no! had a look on srk, and it seems you have to do the whole super input as the kick hits, but obviously before the second hit of her hard kick hits? just cant do it, and i dont really see why i wouldnt want to do it with what i thought was the normal method |

Hello! I've got this now, and would love to play with anyone; PalefaceX on XBL.
So far: I'm where I was with 3S, nearly; I know enough to be shit, but to be better than people who don't know the system. So I can do Focus block/parry things, know when to trap them, know when to EX pretty well from SF3, and can just about make all the motions come out first time with my stick. And I get owned, mainly by people doing things like Rufus' spin endlerssly in the corner, or El Fuerte just repeatedly doing some Shitty Overhead until I jab or EX or Focus out of it. Also: much as I love playing as Abel, I find it hard to deal with fireballs, and CPU Abel just pillages that HCB throw. Grr. Still trying to unlock characters - no-one so far, and I need to see Cammy and Fei Long - but would happily get punished by people online, if you'd like. I'm trying to learn Ryu/Sagat/Abel at the moment. (And: whilst I am awful at charge characters, I'm getting there with Guile; I still can't do a Sonic Boom regularly, tho). In other news: I really like The Song. |
