I have a friend who'd get really annoyed if he was beaten with a LK in 3rd Strike, saying there wasn't any flair or finesse in it. He'd even put his pad down if you were consecutively stuffing his massively telegraphed specials with pokes. This man was a 'scrub'.

Been trying to get up Gouken, I've done what it says on game FAQS and the forums about 8 times but still havn't gotten him up.... which is gay. Any ideas? Don't know if you have done it already, Jake, but all I needed to do was to first unlock Akuma, then play as him getting two perfects and 3 ultra finishes. The perfects and/or ultra finishes do not need to come consecutively, either (as I have seen said elsewhere). |

Yeah I got up Akuma and everyone else for tat matter.
Done Two Perfects and Three Ultra Finishes without using continues. As this didn’t work I read variations that said 1Ps 3Us, 3Ps 3Us, Tried ‘em all twice, with Akuma, Ken, Ryu and Bulrog... still nothing its stupid! My pal said it might be to do with having so many points. |

From the Capcom blog
http://www.capcom-unity.com/s-kill/blog/20...kuma_and_gouken QUOTE To unlock Akuma as a playable character:
1. Unlock Cammy, Fei Long, Dan, Sakura, Rose, and Gen. 2. Pick a character you have already used to beat Arcade Mode. 3. Win all your matches without continuing and without losing any rounds before fighting with Seth. 4. You need to get at least one "perfect" win in a round, and more than one depending on how many rounds per match you are playing. - 1 round match: 1 perfect round or more - 3 round match: 2 perfect rounds or more - 5 round match: 3 perfect rounds or more - 7 round match: 4 perfect rounds or more (including the last battle against Seth) 5. If you meet these conditions, Akuma will appear. Defeat him to unlock Akuma as a selectable character. To unlock Gouken as a playable character: 1. Complete Arcade Mode playing as Akuma and watch (not necessary to watch everything) an ending. 2. Then, unlock Gouken as an opponent, and defeat him. Necessary conditions to unlock Gouken as an opponent: - Play with any characters with which you watched the ending once (so play using a character you have already beaten the game with) - Do not continue at all. - Do not lose at all. Not even one round (easier if you only play 1-round matches) - Achieve certain number (or more) of "Perfect" rounds. The number of Perfect Win you need to achieve are: If you play on - 1 round match: 1 time or more - 3 round match: 2 times or more - 5 round match: 3 times or more - 7 round match: 4 times or more - Achieve a certain number (or more) of Super Combo -OR- Ultra Combo Finishes. Super and Ultra finishes both count toward this number. The number of super/ultra finishes you need to achieve are: If you play on - 1 round match: 3 times or more - 3 round match: 5 times or more - 5 round match: 7 times or more - 7 round match: 9 times or more - Achieve certain number (or more) of First Attack (this means you must score the first strike in a match--the screen gives you the "First Attack" message, and you can mostly do this without even noticing): The number of First Attack you need to achieve are: If you play on - 1 round match: 5 times or more - 3 round match: 10 times or more - 5 round match: 15 times or more - 7 round match: 20 times or more - Then Gouken will appear. Kick his butt to unlock him! This post has been edited by plopboy: Feb 25 2009, 08:44 PM |

An El Fuerte player, Dawgtanian, reached the quarter-finals of the Gamerbase RB but his quarter-final match against IMX's Zangief was just... hilarious, in a really sad way. El Fuerte must have hit Zangief with about 20 mix-ups, guessing right everytime, and the crowd was cheering him on. After about 30-40 seconds of constantly mixing up and rushing Zangief down, he makes one mistake - ONE - and gets hit by a Zangief Ultra. Zangief then jumps in, SPD, jumps in, body splash, match over. Second round went the same way. One of the saddest/funniest things I've seen. Reminded me a lot of Twelve vs Ken. It was really sad to watch because the Fuerte player totally threw it away both rounds. Several times he went for flashy combos that he couldn't perform consistently enough under tournament conditions. In terms of damage though, it's definitely infuriating playing against Gief with a mixup character. Hell, most characters are like that versus Gief actually. You have to work twice as hard as him for a quarter of the damage, you lose all your blockstrings against him because of SPD, and then he takes off half your bar with the ultra from one opportunity. That guy is a fucking TANK. |

Have you been playing Dan much yet Ryan? I got to say I do quite like a lot of the way his moves work, he's even more SNK than ever. EX Dan kick, jump back LK overhead is straight from Takuma, animation and everything! Even the stupid noise he makes during the dragon punch at the end of the normal super is SNK, not to mention the super itself!
I think Dan is going to be my counterpick for when Vega can't do the job. |

Ha ha, I've been trying not to, I don't want to spread myself too thin. He's a fun character to play around with and I think a lot of that is down to how he has been animated but I've been sticking to Zangief, Dhalsim and Sakura for the main.
Do you think he's a decent character in this? I've been hearing various things from various people but I can't see where his potential lies, besides being annoying with tiger knee LK Hurricanes... but like I say, I haven't put that much time into him. What's he got that's decent and what can he do with meter? This post has been edited by PrivateRyan: Feb 26 2009, 03:30 PM |

I think he's pretty solid. My gut feeling is that he's somewhere in the lower-mid kind of area. He can be tricky in the air in a way that no other characters can because of dan kick, that same move is a lot safer than it used to be on the floor. Like a better version of Sean's kick in 3S. Like a lot of characters in this, his ultra is a fantastic equaliser. Kind of like Abel's except it doesn't go quite as far or as fast, but it will pass fireballs at close range. His super does great damage if you can get it, but it's kinda fussy to combo and it doesn't work great as a counter. He also has a strong taunting game!
His problems come from his slow dash, poor normals, and short range focus attack. He doesn't have a way of dealing with people at long range or keeping people out on the ground because his fireball sucks and his normals have short range and poor speed. Anti-air is no problem though because his dragon punch is as decent as they seem to get in this game. I've just scratched the surface with him really. I'll have a mess about with him online tonight and see how it goes. Like Sean, his normals might be better than I give him credit for. This post has been edited by Willei: Feb 26 2009, 03:56 PM |

Anti-air is no problem though because his dragon punch is as decent as they seem to get in this game. I don't find his FA range too bad...It's no Ken Masters that's for sure! I found his dash not too bad either, at least for getting you out of the way. Nothing he has is the best but then; it is Dan we're talking about here! His super taunt into Ultra is pretty pointless tho. At first I thought it was a neat way to link into his Ultra but seeing the damage when combo'ed you may as well just perform a normal super instead of the taunt and look for another opportunity to Ultra. |
