I'd actually forgotten to post this one; I finished it back in April. I thought this was a big disappointment. I'm not sure if it was how much the DRPG genre has moved forwards on Vita since the original (completing Refrain and Dungeon Travellers didn't result in positive comparisons) or if it was just weaker but it just ended up being a chore to play. Pretty impressive work given how much animation etc you can skip. I'm only a few hours from getting the platinum but I just can't be bothered.

You guys need to play this if you haven't already.  Tells a lovely tale of a girl re-visiting her old family home and uncovering her family history.  It's worth leaving it at that and allowing people to experience it.

9) Witcher 3: Blood and Wine (PC)
Yikes, what a fantastic expansion.  A massive new area to explore with hours and hours of new quests.  Brilliant.  Sad now that my time with Geralt is at an end; 191 hours in.

Falls away a bit at the end (what's going on with the last area?!) but overall really strong. Great audio. The speed setting really makes it work.

APR - The Sexy Brutale (PC) (story complete)

MAY - Calendula (PC)

JUN - Virginia (PC) (story complete)

JUL - Lego Batman 3 (Vita) (platinum trophy)

Yeah, I was that bored.

AUG - Diablo III (PS3) (story complete - expert difficulty)

Yeah, I was that bored.

That's probably not fair, actually, but it's not like the game really asks much of you. I bumped it up to master difficulty towards the end for the quicker EXP gain, but that slowed the battles right down - thanks to the enemies becoming bullet sponges - and I quickly came to realise that it wasn't any faster trying to level up like that. The story is absolutely worthless and the companion sidequests are similarly wasted, but the mindless button mashing is fun enough. Unfortunately, I settled on a (Demon Hunter) character build fairly quickly that none of the subsequent unlocks were more any fun to play around with, so kept reverting back to that same build. It meant a great deal of monotony and led to me abandoning the game for about a year and a half before coming back to polish it off. I'd quite like to get to level 70 to unlock the prestige stuff (I've hit 65), but I doubt very much I'll carry on with it past that point.

AUG - DOOM (PC) (can't remember what difficulty, think it was a mixture of Ultra-Violence and Hurt Me Plenty)

I finally got around to installing GZDoom, because I got the urge to play it again and wanted proper mouse controls rather than the shitty weirdness that the game originally forced on mouse users (I used to be a keyboard-only player, but that's not practical on this laptop).

Like the very best arcade games, it's easily as much fun to play now as it was on original release. I kind of hate the Thy Flesh Consumed levels, though. This is, I think, the first time I ever bothered with them (unless they're in the PS1 version, but I don't remember them being) and the sudden inclusion of invisible buttons hidden in lava-floored sections is some properly shitty trolling of the player.

I've got quite a lot of niggles about this but man, it's such a good idea to combine an idle game with a more active one and it gets so close. Great soundtrack too.

1) Nier (PS3) - Endings B,C and D
2) Drakengard 3 - Branches A,B and C
3) Nier Automata (PS4) - Endings ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWX Z
4) Zelda Breath of the Wild (Switch) - Really liked it but I wasn't a fan of the stamina meter, it would have been nice to repair weapons and the lock on in combat always seemed a bit iffy, but overall I liked the direction the series is going in.
5) Rime - (PS4) - was ok

6) Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - Was OK, I'll put some words up in impressions

Since they delayed Xen to December I decided to just go through. Ultimately, though it looks nicer, I think the new stuff they added mostly detracts from the game. Shitty little jokes that make you cringe (especially near the beginning), unsatisfying new puzzles and most of all the whole physics system. You're just constantly getting caught on stuff, bits of detritus often obstruct when you're trying to do something like activate an object and the way it handles stuff like getting out of water just isn't very good. Pretty much everything that's good in it is stuff from the original.
