Cybernoid 2
???? No fucking clue
Deflektor (the SID samples gave that right away, fucking hate that game)
Outrun
Supremacy
R-Type (best thing by far about the C64 version was this title screen theme, love it)
Skate or Die
No clue whatsoever. Samples sound like Last Ninja but can't put my hand on the theme
Some sort of SNES remix?
Last Ninja 2, definitely.
I was about to give up on this until I heard China In Her Eyes - it's International Karate
Turrican, 1 or 2, I can't remember
NFI
Flimbo's Quest (EAAAAASY)
Bubble Bobble
Arkanoid
Erm, Monty on the Run or Auf Wiedershen Monty
Commando
Outrun

What do I win?

I am old enough to remember that too. Downstairs in the dining room hooked to a little black and white portable, tinkering for the first ever time adjusting the heads on that fucking piece of shit Datasette, Martin Galway's immense loading music from Ocean, having a million and one copied tapes sat on the shelves, compilation packs for Christmas - loading the first game up whilst unwrapping the rest of the presents, wetting your finger and rubbing it along Port 1 to activate the Creatures 2 infinite lives cheat, going utterly apeshit one birthday when I got Pacland (which I was madly in love with in the arcade), Hit Squad-Kixx-Codemasters £3.99 tat, being so disappointed by Chase HQ I distinctly remember crying over wasting 4 weeks pocket money for a game I loved in the arcade, old C64 dying and getting the new model C64C with the Terminator 2 cartridge, then getting an Amiga but never

EVER

*EVER*

forgetting the brave, beautiful, wonderful first journey into vidja, and being damn sure I got Mayhem in Monsterland as the final burning embers of a glorious age.

Good night, sweet prince.

I remember this (hot stuff starts at 1:22 ish

I too remember the dark art of head alignment with the magic screw driver of loading, that and the anticipation as the game loaded which could take 15 minutes with some games, though the turbo loaders that came later where quite quick.

The in-game music to this was knock-your-dick-off fantastic:

And the title theme to the otherwise abysmal conversion of R-Type:

The effect that kicks off the main tune at 3s/4s is a fucking CLASSIC noise. I flick my fingers to it everytime I hear it. Because I am sad :(
