I'm getting married in August with a stag doo at a retro arcade & pinball convention in Gateshead. Such nostalgia. Kids can't be far off after that. Eeep.
I took on a 3rd job. Or rather became self employed on top of the regular 37.5 week job and the weekend bar work.
The new chef at the pub is on another level though, stints at prestigious places such as Noma in Copenhagen, Heston's The Fat Duck and such. Plates look like art. Search for @erniechef on twitter for what he does.
My extra work is Network Marketing in nature, but I'm happy with it as the company is very supportive and I work with some nice people I wouldn't otherwise have met. I even started to attend a local breakfast network group with people who have like, proper businesses! Wishing I'd given business more serious attention a lot earlier but I always thought it was something better people did.
Since getting a smartphone I find I waste a hell of a lot more time than I used to. I don't even get through my subs to Private Eye or Viz. Before I'd just devour them in a few days. i don't know, the internet can be such a time sink. I'd like to post more but hate typing anything longer than a sentence on the thing.
Still weightlifting, still uploading 3rd Strike matches and I've gotten into Gin.
How are you fine men getting along?

Married, still living in 'merica, and a dog on the way.
I don't play enough videogames though. Dark Souls 2 is pretty much the only game I've been able to put any time into this year, as work has mostly gotten in the way.

Congrats on getting married Shend
My kids are now at school and seem to be growing up fast
Started going to the gym which is good and I feel better for it.
Job is a bit shitty at the moment though that might have to change anyway.
Otherwise like Boog I'm only really playing DSII at the moment, oh and my monitor pcb in my cab has died which is
Otherwise life is mostly ok.

Thought this year would be the shittiest year of them all. Entered it knowing that my job role was being altered on a fundamental level, entirely against my wishes and without any proper consultation with me.
In the event, and bar a couple of exceptions, I love the team I'm working with now. Friendly, social, professional. Three things that I've not had from work colleagues in the last eight years.
Plus, I started renting a house last Friday. It's potentially lovely, but is in reality a bit crap in a lot of places, due to landlords who clearly don't give a shit about it as long as they're getting the rent. This is fine, though, as it's in the nicest bit of town - old-school Victorian terrace on a cobbled street, near a load of nice restaurants and arty-farty shops, right on the doorstep of the town park/gardens and the river - and is, relatively speaking, dirt fucking cheap.
Plus, I entered into a relationship with somebody I met within that new team at work. Two weeks in, I discovered that she's into Persona, Gurren Laggan and loads of other cool shit.
I offered to lend her the import Persona 3 & 4 soundtrack CDs. She already owns them herself.
So far? Best year ever.

Life is not bad, just need to keep leveling up.
Got a new job at the same company in a new department. They all think I am hot shit at the moment, which is nice and it shows that 7 years of absolutely being rinsed has given me tons of experience and knowledge that I am able to apply elsewhere. My main thing that has been getting me down for 3 years was my old job, 2 weeks into this new one, I am finding myself much happier. I start at 9, I finish at 5. None of the "Career development" extra hours which counted for shit at bonus or pay increase time. Come in, do my contracted hours, go home. I remember doing crazy shifts just to prove myself against other people, it was appreciated but it never materialised when bonus time came around, Always some excuse or some new hoop that was created just so that I would not get it. I kicked up a fuss, but in a calm, collected manner...believe it or not and some recompense was given. By that time, I had already started making moves and landed a job elsewhere. Soon as I got it, they were like "Shit...". I wasn't gonna turn back, had to look out for myself.
My Mrs gave birth to a baby girl and she is lovely at the moment. It's still hard to believe that I am a dad and it still feels surreal. She's 10 weeks old and she is now laughing which seems like such a small thing, but it's like a life event for me.
Been able to save some money over the past few years as well, just waiting for the right house to come along before I jump in and move from my current house.
That's it really, 2014 has been really good.
Only thing I need to sort out is training and fitness again. I used to go martial arts training for around 9 months, 3 times a weeks solid. Used to also go swimming twice a week but work got in the way and zapped me. Everything is fine at the moment so I will be starting that again shortly.
I've got 10 days off from Good Friday, gonna enjoy them by chilling the fuck out and then start again then.

I've poked my nose back in here after, what, 6 years (!?!?) and it's nice to see the same faces are still around. In that time my life has changed a fair bit with some familiar landmarks - bought a house, got married and became a dad
Singho, with kids those little "life event" moments just keep on coming. My little boy is 2.5, but he's only just started to talk in the last few weeks. When I came home from work and he greeted me with "Daddy!" for the first time it was pretty special
The thing I really need to get a grip on is work. I've been stuck in the same small company for pretty much my whole career to date, and whilst it's very familiar and nice the pay isn't amazing and I need a change. Problem is I'm very much a jack of all trades, master of none - I end up doing all the odd little jobs and only having a supporting role in the big projects, which in turn means I haven't had the experience to prove myself to a new employer. Applied to several jobs over the last 6 months, but couldn't get past the technical tests Annoyingly everyone wants a specialist, not a generalist - at least when it comes to web development.
Don't get much gaming time these days, but I do manage to squeeze in the odd bit of Torchlight 2 I guess my primary gaming device is my 4th gen iPod Touch, so I keep an eye out for anything decent that'll run on iOS 6

Where to start.....
End of Summer last year I made a move from being an electrician to a BMS engineer, which is basically a specialist electrician for controlling air con and the like. Spent nearly 6 months driving around the country, which wasn't what the job was sold as. Fuckers also promised me a decent pay rise but it never materialised. So I quit and went back to my old employer with more money and more responsibility, which is what I asked for originally!
Since my kids have been getting older, son is 4 and daughter is coming up to 3 in a couple of months, I've decided against pushing the whole career thing. Just wanna do my hours and get home to see them, all that basically means I dont play games at the moment.
I also concur, having kids gives you tons of life moments, which is why I have another one coming in August. Definitely stopping at three though, found out two weeks ago we're having another girl, plenty more DIY for me now.

Probably the biggest change in my life is I quit my job at Makro and got a new one as a stores supervisor in a prison. Its certainly been an experience so far, definitely more interesting than the last one. I have a staff of inmates I get to order about and use to deliver supplies around the place. Getting used to the increased security has taken a while but I searching prisoners, radioing in moves and seeing razorwire on everything is becoming strangely routine. I quite like it but its not the sort of thing I can see myself doing for long, I'd like to have transfered somewhere else in the civil service by this time next year.
I barely play video games at all now. The odd bit of FTL or Ticket to Ride on the iPad on the train home is about it. I do have a weekly board games group again now though and I continue to play tabletop wargames like Warhammer. I like it more than vidja because it combines my love of making things with an inherrent social aspect in playing the game. I've met a ton of new people through it and feel its been a positive change.

Turns out that the house I'm renting is even more of shithole than I previously thought. Having already had to put together a list of serious complaints to the estate agent - broken window frames, broken fridge, unlockable back door, etc. - on Friday I was told that the boiler is broken, last night I discovered that the wiring in the lights is faulty and this lunchtime the glass on the oven door blew out all over me and the kitchen.
I've never left an answerphone message as angry, uncontrolled and sweary as the one I did on the estate agents' answerphone - supposedly an emergency maintenance line, but actually only active during regular office hours - this afternoon. Can't remember the details precisely, but I think the term "fucking deathtrap" was shouted into the phone at one point.
So, yeah. Life status: significantly more shitty than a week and a half ago.

My work has now decided they don't want me to work the same school hours working pattern I have been for the past 8 months and are making my life difficult, which is shit and makes me feel like not bothering

Last 2 years have been really, really mad crazy for me, particularly the last 365 days wherein:
- My mum died
- I bought my first ever flat (£30k mortgage, the bittersweet advantages of a relatively large inheritance)
- My work got bought out by another company who honestly looked like they might just be after the assets but thankfully turned out to be fantastic for the business and are gradually turning things around
- I went on another solo snowboarding holiday and this time met some awesome new friends who are bringing me out of my socially inept shell
- Making a ton of money with a solid gambling strategy and thinking about investing it in a real business to occupy my time with
- I'm dating. Sorta.
I feel like I've done the growing up in the past year I should've spent the last decade doing. Better late than never I suppose. Still driving towards a million and one targets.
Glad to see everyone's doing so well, apart from Randy living in The Money Pit with Tom Hanks :/ I miss this place, but I just have nothing to say about video games anymore. Unless it's Tomodachi Life, that shit is GOTY already.
EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot I had a nose operation too. Now I get to sleep more than 5 hours a night without waking up with a carpetmouth!

Nice to catch up with folks.
I'm having some issues with a couple of people at work who're making working life difficult. I'm looking into either moving jobs or cutting my hours down to 3 days a week.
I would prefer to drop my hours, I'd ideally like to focus another 2 days working on my business. Currently it can be a bit difficult to make appointments with small businesses and people if I'm having to juggle time owed/holidays to free myself up for them.
I also joined a second networking group under Business for Breakfast for Stockport Property & Construction Industry. I'm hopeful that by joining and locking out any competing business it will lead to future referrals. The 6:45am start is just about mitigated by the cooked breakfast afterwards.
I saw Godzilla recently too. I liked it.

HEY YOU GUYS!
I learnt to drive about 5 months ago. In the past two years I've had three cars, did you know it is cheaper to ensure a car as a learner?
I am STILL building a house. I could be done in 6 months. Thus far its taken about 9 years.
Much like Hank I started Snowboarding and I go to the Alps every year. (3 years running)
I started a app company about three years ago... but give up on it. I have an app on Windows Phone called Sushi Bar.
I started a business making screen protectors. It was going really well at first but it has not been so good in the pest 6 months. I haven't had time to put into it.... but the product is good. Its called ScreenProof. That's going to be my next push.
I use my Xbox more as a TV than a games console and I still feel like I am not using my time very well.

Wow Boog. Impressive.
One thing I can keep hearing about this sort of stuff is the 'black' issue, seeing as you can't project black, things won't look as solid as sometimes portrayed. What's your take on it?
